1. H.L. Leonard 38 ACM 7'0" #3/4


Here is a highly sought after Leonard rod. It is the 38 ACM (Arthur C. Mills) model and is 7'0" 2 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #3/4 line. It has a very medium action for tiny flies and selective trout. The grip is cigar shaped and the reel seat is Leonard's classic butternut reel seat. Has red wraps. It is serial number 1678 and is so marked on each section. The original owners name is also factory done on the butt section. This rod was built in the 1970s under Ted Simroe. Comes in the original tube and yellow cotton bag with stiffener. Rod has been very lightly used and remains in excellent plus condition. These rods are getting very difficult to find.

2. W.E. Edwards "Quadrate" Custom 7'0" #4



Here is a very nice W.E. Edwards quadrate custom built rod. It is 7'0" 2 pc. 2 tip with all sections full length for a #4 line. Has a very parabolic action that I have never seen before in an Edwards Quadrate. Has red wraps with double yellow tipping at each guide. The ferrules have the deluxe cuts in them but are not blued. The grip is their simple cigar style that is squared off at the front portion. The reel seat is a cork skeleton style with a nicely knurled sliding band. Comes in the original bag and tube with label. Overall condition is very good to near excellent. The rod has only had an overcoat of varnish done to it. All of the wraps are original.

3. Gary Howells 8'0" #5 NEW!!!!!!!!!!


This is a beautiful Gary Howells 8' / 5 weight, 2 piece - 2 tips with all sections full length. Has a very comfortable wells style grip and Gary's beautiful aluminum up-locking reel seat with the exotically grained zebrawood spacer. Rod is in excellent condition. Tips are both straight and the varnish is perfect. The ferrules are tight. Rod comes with the correct aluminum tube and cloth sack (original owners name typed on label). Wraps are the classic brown tipped in gold. Gary Howells rods are considered to be one of the finest "contemporary" rods built and this is as fine an example as you will find.

4. F.E. Thomas Special 8'0" 2 pc. #5

This is a very nice F. E. Thomas Special that is 8'0" 2 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #5 line. Has a cigar grip with a cork skeleton reel seat. The wraps are brown and the guides are the reverse twist English style. One of the tip tops is a steel strut style that Thomas devised and the other is the typical Perfection. probably replaced at some point. The hook keeper ring is soldered to the winding check. The butt cap is stamped with the usual Thomas Special logo and the base of the butt cap has the number 120 stamped on it. Rod comes in the original bag and tube. This rod has had the stripping guide rewrapped and that is all. It remains in very good ++ original condition. Dates to the early 1930s. Its hard to find a short Thomas in nicer original condition these days.

5. W&M Granger Victory 8'6" #5
Here is a very nice Wright and McGill Granger Victory. It is 8'6" 3 pc 2 tips with all sections full length. The wraps are the typical orange and black variegated color. Has the Western style grip and the patented nickel silver up-locking reel seat. Rod has been completely refinished and is ready to be fished. Has a great dry fly action that Grangers are noted for. Comes in the original bag and tube. Overall condition is excellent restored.

6. T.L. Zietak Quadrate 6'0" #3/4



Here is one of the rods of my own manufacture. It is
previously owned and fished about a dozen times. It is 6'0" 2 pc. 2 tips for a
#3/4 line. Has a nice dry fly action. The taper is taken from a Sam Carlson
quad rod. This rod has maroon wraps tipped in black. The ferrules and reel
seat hardware are blued. The grip is my coke bottle style that is squared at
the front portion with a cork skeleton seat. Has a red agate stripping guide.
This rod has been lightly used and remains in excellent condition. Built 2001.

7. W. E. Edwards Quadrate Deluxe #40 7'0" #3/4



This is one of the highly sought after W.E. Edwards quadrate rods in the DeLuxe #40 model. It is 7'0" 2 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #4 line. Has an all cork reel seat with black tenite butt cap and sliding band. The ferrules are blued and the cane is richly flamed. This rod has burgundy wraps tipped in gold which I have never seen before. It has been beautifully restored with all of the Edwards markings retained. The rod comes in the original bag (with Bill Rosgen stamping as the retailer) and original tube. Overall condition is excellent.

8. Mark Ruhe 6’9", 2/2, "Garrison 193", 3/4wt.


From one of the West Coast’s most accomplished makers. Mark has been building rods for about 11 years. Built using the Garrison 193 taper this rod sports a rich agate stripper guide, blued ferrules, ferrule plug, translucent tan silks tagged dark brown. A bright cap and ring on a maple insert compliment the cigar style grip, which is still wrapped in plastic.

9. C.W. "Sam" Carlson Quadrate 9'0" #8 Salmon


Here is one of the rare rods built by Sam Carlson. It is 9'0" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #8 line. Has a dry fly style grip with an aluminum up-locking reel seat with a walnut spacer. The wraps are brown tipped with yellow and black. The stripping guide is a red agate. Has wonderfully flamed cane. a couple of guides have been rewrapped and the ferrules re-blued. Has a powerful dry fly action for Atlantic salmon. Comes in a replaced bag and tube. Overall condition is very good to excellent. Rod is marked "Bill Rosgen" and Winsted, Conn." This is a fabulous rod for Atlantic salmon.

10. Wright & McGill Granger Aristocrat 7’ 2/2 #4


This early scarce rod has the elliptical (hammer handle) grip and the patented NS screw up-locking reel seat. The wraps are tan tipped with brown. Overall condition is excellent plus as this rod was fished very little if at all. A light coat of varnish was applied to prevent further crazing of the original coat, which was just starting. Original labeled tube and bag. A second label on the tube indicates that this rod was sold by ASA C. Osborn Co., Sporting Goods, 8 High Street, Boston 10, Mass.

11. Garrison 228 10'0" #8/9


This is one of the finest salmon rods an angler could find. It is one of the 700 or so rods that Everett Garrison built. Model 228 which is 10'0" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #8 or 9 line. Has the classic Garrison grip and an all metal screw-locking seat. The bottom of the reel seat has a brass plug that is removable and the extension butt can be plugged in. The rod is serial number G-10 0-1 which dates the rod to 1937. It has Halstead style blued ferrules and Perfection guides. Comes in the original bag and tube with original shipping label with Garrison's shipping address still legible. The tube was custom made by Garrison. The extension butt has a special tube and bag of its own that screws onto the actual rod tube. The tube is aluminum with brass fittings. This rod has been refinished but all of the original markings were retained including the Garrison signature. This is a great Atlantic salmon rod as well as a piece of our angling history. Don't miss this opportunity to own a rare Garrison rod.

12. Jim Payne 7'0" 2/1 Model 98 4 wt. NEW!!!!!!!!


Here is a Jim Payne model 98 rod. It is 7'0" 2 pc. with 1 tip (built that way). Handles a #4 line to perfection with a nice and smooth dry fly action. Has a cigar grip and the classic Spanish cedar slide band reel seat. The reel seat has the standard Payne stamping as well as the "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch" mark. Has brown wraps tipped in yellow. Rod is completely original. Comes in the original bag and tube with silver/blue label. It would be very hard to find a Payne in nicer original condition than this one.

13. Leonard 8’, 3/2, "50 Reg’td", 5wt.


This registered pre-fire rod is one of the memorable aristocrats with a unique medium, yet strong full action for a #5 line. All original cigar grip and down locking reel seat with butternut spacer. Traditional red wraps with the original bag, hanging tag and brass capped tube. Rod is 8'0" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length. Rod has had an over varnish but otherwise remains original.

14. E.C. Powell Hollowbuilt 9'0" B-9 Taper
Here is a very nice E.C. Powell rod. It is 9'0" 2 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a 7/8 line. Has the classic bronze wraps with tip at the hook keeper and single wide intermediate wind between the guides. Has the aluminum screw up-locking seat with a black tenite spacer. Rod has been restored to original specs. Comes in the original bag and tube. Has a great action for steelhead or salmon fishing. Weight is 5 oz.

15. Folsom 8’6", 3/2, "#1510", 5 wt.


This rod (made by Heddon for Folsom) is full length and has been re finished and re wrapped using the same color threads (red tipped black) as the original. All hardware is also original. The model #, length and signature "Folsom" name have been preserved on the butt section. Comes with the correct bag and metal tube.

16. Leonard 8’6’, 3/2, "Catskill", 4/5wt.

This rod has been completely refinished replacing only the traditional red wraps. Correct snake stripping guide, cigar grip with nickel silver cap and ring over a butternut spacer. One tip is ¼" short. Replacement bag with newer Leonard brass capped tube.

17. Leonard 9’, 3/1, "Tournament", 6wt.


Completely restored with red silk and full intermediates. A friend who states, "It was indeed her grandfathers personal rod", purchased this rod from the granddaughter of Justus Von Lengerke. Justus Von Lengerke was one of the founders of "Von Lengerke & Detmold" probably the original field & stream outfitter before Orvis, LL Bean and Abercrombie & Fitch. His stores were created in 1882 in Newark, New York & Chicago. This rod may have had a second tip, which would explain the larger tube. Beautiful full nickel silver reel seat. Non-original bag, original tube.

18. Goodwin Granger 9’, 3/2 "Victory", 6wt.


This rod is full length and has been re finished and re wrapped using the same color threads (brown/black variegated tipped black) as the original. All hardware is original. The signature "Granger Victory" name has been preserved on the butt section. Comes with the correct bag (could use a new one) and black cardboard tube.

19. F.E. Thomas 9', 3/2 "Special", 5/6 wt.

This legendary rod is similar to that on which Carrie Stevens caught the record brook trout that launched her as one of two best known women in fly fishing history. It is also an exact match to the rod in "Opus # II" a watercolor by the renowned Maine artist, Arthur Taylor. The full nickel silver reel seat, original red wraps tipped black, full intermediate red wraps and exquisite red and black signature wrap are magnificent. Blued ferrules and English snake guides provide the finishing touch. One of the tip tops was replaced as the original was split. Bag and tube may be original to this early piece.

Here is a very nice H.L. Leonard 50 1/2 DF. It is 8'6" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #5 line. Has a cigar grip and a screw up-locking reel seat with a butternut wood spacer. Has the rare apple green wraps with orange tipping. The stripping guide is agate. The stamping on the reel seat is the standard Leonard mark in addition to the desirable Registered markings. Comes in the original bag and non-original tube. The action is very smooth for easy casting all day long.

Here is one of the highly sought after Jim Payne model 198s. It is 7'6" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #5 line. Has the Payne style dry fly grip and the silver up-locking reel seat with a Spanish cedar wood spacer. The stripping guide is a red agate and the wraps are brown tipped yellow. Has a nice smooth action that Payne's are noted for a #5 line. Comes in the original bag and tube. Rod has been refinished beautifully to near mint condition. I haven't seen another 198 in a couple of years now. This is a really nice one.

This is a very nice Jim Payne model 200. It is 8'0" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #4 line. Has a medium action. The grip is cigar shaped and it has a walnut sliding band seat. The butt cap has the standard Payne stamping. Rod has been completely refinished by George Guba, one of the best Payne restorationists in the country. The varnish was soft necessitating the refinish. Comes in the original bag and tube. This is the lightest action Payne in the 8'0" 3 pc. series.

Here is another Jim Payne rod. This one is the model 100. It is 7'6" 2 pc. 2 tips for a #4 line. All sections are full length. Has brown wraps with yellow tipping. The grip is cigar shaped and it has a walnut sliding band reel seat with the standard Payne stamping. Has a very nice medium action for a #4 line. This is the lightest 7'6" 2 pc. rod that Payne made. Comes in the original bag and tube. Rod has been refinished to excellent condition. There are a few dark stains around a couple of guides where the guides had rusted and left a mark. This is cosmetic only and does not hurt the integrity of the rod. This rod would normally sell for upwards of $4000 but with the stains under a couple of guides it is being priced accordingly. A great chance to get a wonderful Payne.

Here is a very nice Thomas Special rod. It is 8'6" 3 pc. 2 tips with all sections full length for a #6 line. Has a cigar shaped grip with a screw down-locking reel seat with a Spanish cedar spacer. The wraps are the classic Thomas brown with green/black variegate accents at the ferrules. The butt section has the typical 3/7/3 pattern of fancy wraps. Rod has a wonderful smooth action for easy casting all day long. Would be great for fishing out of a canoe or boat on larger rivers. Rod has been completely refinished to excellent condition.
